During the Second World War, the US Government contracted Steinway and Sons to build pianos durable enough to withstand the harsh environments of the front line. Air dropped into war zones across the globe; the piano’s mission was to bring comfort and a piece of home to the soldiers. The pianos boosted morale, brought people together and allowed them to express themselves while showing others the magic of music.
