The day the money started pouring out of my bank account, whilst stuff was going south elsewhere.

Why put an image of your journal up when over a half is redacted for legal reasons?

Well I guess to demonstrate that outside building a new company there was a WHOLE LOAD of stuff going on south of the border and therefore in my brain. The kinds of distractions that don’t interrupt but are there humming away like a groaning broken refrigerator in every room of the house. The kind of distraction that nicks all your attention when you least want it whilst also needing a degree of low level of cognisance at all times. It felt like juggling chainsaws whilst walking on egg shells with an audience peppered with all my ex girlfriends and people I had lost playground fights with (ie everyone I’d had a playground fight with).

When looking from afar, back at something historical it is like flying at 30,000 odd feet on a grey day. All you can see is the clouds beneath you, not all the nice stuff that is going on beneath them. So it’s nice to see in this journal there was a true excitement and passion driving the thing along more than just trying to get back on my feet. Or indeed any motivation drawn from getting my own back, pulling a fast one, or just “showing them”.

I can detect from my tone that I am where I know. I’ve never been sure of my abilities as a composer (my saying has always been if you can’t play teach, if you can’t teach composer, if you can’t compose set up a sample company. But certain it seems back then that I was sure I could make something that sounded cool, different and that people would find useful. With the most releaving response to a very expensive set of sessions we were paying for without investment being full of spirit and generosity from the awesome musos.

“29/30th August Inc today/yesterday/day one of recording was a big day we started boring and it gradually built to a crescendo of excitement. No one has ever made something that sounds like this. Amazing day with amazing people working their socks off. The hospitality of the studio just amazing. Bollinger rolls buns sausage rolls. Just amazing. All feeding into a steady current of positive energy sullied only by___

___But onto the nice stuff. Really felt we broke the ice. Nailed our first video. Felt comfortable in front of camera nailed a Crowhill piece and drone shot. Loved working with Jack and enjoyed a welcome pint at the end then hooked up with___team lovely to see them all. Pity this is coming to an end. Hope we can work together again.”
