An Aladdin’s Cave of Sound

Pictured above – The combination of a EMS VCS3 “Putney” synth with a Lowrey Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 organ used by Pete Townshend to create the famous Terry Riley inspired (the title of the track is a port manteau of spiritual leader Meher Baba and the composer of the seminal work “In C”) minimalist synth backdrop to The Who’s “Baba O’Riley”.

In this video we met up with Greg Smith for a guided tour of one of the most incredible ‘Aladdin’s caves’ of sound you’ll ever encounter – The Townshend Studio at the University of West London.
