Spirit of Herzog.

7 years ago a YouTuber close to our hearts “Hainbach” talked about one of the oldest synths that he had in his collection (at that time). The Wersi string synth is one of the earliest examples of synthesis of strings past the clunky unreliable (but also lovely!) tape-based mellotrons. Our creative director Dot Allison spotted this video and went on a hunt for a model for herself. She kindly leant the team this great example of vintage-synthery in order to sample and share with the world. As a truly vintage piece of vintage synth history the sound it creates is not only evocative in its primitive simplicity, unstable tuning, thin and bright tones but also in it’s historical context particularly in reference to early synthesized film music. For us it evokes synthy-spirits brought to the big-screen by the likes of Herzog, Coppola, and Kubrick. The power of sampling enables us not to emulate or re-synthesize these instruments but indeed play and perform actual recordings complete with the individual characteristics of instruments who have had many decades of use. This well travelled specimen now preserved for your enjoyment and need to re-create the atmospheres conjured in films like Aguerre Wrath of God, Apocalypse Now and Clockwork Orange. Enjoy! and thanks Dot!!! xxx
