Recorded at Castlesound Studios, we removed the lids from two grand pianos to capture their quietest, most elusive voices. By reaching inside the instrument and lightly touching each string at around a quarter of its length while striking the corresponding key, beautiful, bell-like harmonics emerge, sounds that are almost impossible to produce consistently in performance.
Because this technique is so delicate and impractical to play, we wanted to explore its full potential. We meticulously sampled two grand pianos and presented them in an ultra-wide stereo antiphony, creating an instrument of extraordinary depth, space, and character.
The result is a truly unique sound: ethereal, expressive, and unlike any conventional piano. An instrument to inspire, treasure, and return to throughout your musical life.
